NZSO Special Performance

A trio from the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra gave a private concert at Wellington Children's Hospital today for patients, families and staff.

The performance on each Ward is part of the NZSO's Community Programme, where small groups from the NZSO bring music to people who are unable to engage with them in a concert hall.

Patients of all ages where delighted with the visit and marvelled at the age of some of the instruments and the classical pieces that were performed.

One particular patient, 3 year old Vanessa, was absolutly taken by the Violin.  After the performance she relished the chance to play it herself.

The musicians were: Sub Principal Second Violinist David Gilling, Assistant Sub Principal Celloist Brigid O'Meeghan and Sub Principal Clarinet and Bass Clarinet Rachel Vernon.
